German-French dramatic soprano Alexandra Untiedt studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, and the Sweelinck Conservatorium, Amsterdam.
She last appeared as Helmwige at Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf.
Winner of the Grandi Voce International Singing Competition, Untiedt began her career as a mezzo-soprano, eventually moving into the soprano fach. She made her debut as the little Vixen The Cunning Little Vixen (Solingen & Remscheid Theaters), and progressed through repertoire such as Donna Elvira Don Giovanni (Germany) and Fiordiligi Cosi fan Tutte (France), before growing into more demanding roles such as Donna Anna Don Giovanni (Germany), Mme Lidoine Dialogues des Carmélites, and the title role in Cherubini’s Médée (Netherlands).
On the concert stage she has performed Verdi‘s Messa da Requiem, Mahler’s 2nd Symphony, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Rossini‘s Petite Messe Solennelle, Nielsen’s Sinfonia Espansiva; and has worked with acclaimed artists such as Paul Nadler, Grace Bumbry, Edda Moser, Joan Dornemann, Laurent Pillot and Udo Reineman.
Recipient Richard Wagner Stipendium Bayreuth her repertoire now encompasses the demanding roles of Marie Wozzeck, Leonore Fidelio, Kátya Kátya Kabanova, Sieglinde Die Walküre and the title role in Ariadne auf Naxos.
